How to Get Rid of a Pimple - Fast!

These 10 natural remedies will get rid of your pimple fast!

First and foremost, you should not be ashamed of your acne or pimples. Everyone has experienced acne and pimples at some point in their life and I don’t know anyone who isn’t still! Stress, hormones, diet, bad habits, or just simply being a human can all lead to those annoying, sometimes painful and scarring pimples and blemishes. If you’re dealing with stubborn acne flareups or suddenly are dealing with one giant pimple that just won’t go away - these natural remedies to get rid of a pimple quick are for you!

It’s sometimes difficult to pinpoint what caused the break out because there’s an endless list of pimple causing culprits. Perhaps you’ve been sleeping on the same pillow case for weeks and haven’t washed it? Or maybe you’ve forgotten to moisturize daily, so your delicate facial skin is compensating for the dryness by over-producing sebum, your body’s natural oil. Or maybe you’re going through finals, haven’t slept for three days and have inhaled more caffeine than real nutrients in all that time you’ve been cram studying.

Whatever the reason may be, the underlying reason why we break out is imbalance. An imbalanced diet. An imbalanced sleep routine. Imbalanced hormones and stress levels. All of these imbalances ultimately lead to imbalanced skin health, which is especially noticeable and particularly impact for face and acne-prone skin types.

These 10 natural remedies below help to restore your skin's natural balance so that it can heal, reduce the appearance and redness of pimples, and help prevent future breakouts.

tea tree essential oil

Tea Tree Essential Oil is a potent, natural antiseptic that helps the skin fight off acne-causing bacteria. It’s chemical makeup includes strong antimicrobials as well as terpinene-4-ol, which has been shown in some studies to fight acne as well as some commercial products.

You can find pure tea tree essential oil at any health food store - all you need is one small bottle as a tiny drop goes a very long way! Apply directly to breakout area, leave it on, and let it works its magic.

Organic green tea is rich in catechins which are known for their antibacterial properties to fight off acne causing bacteria fast. Green tea has also been known to soothe skin and reduce inflammation and red, blotchy skin. The free-radical fighting antioxidants in green tea help restore the skin’s natural healthy balance, reverse signs of aging, and help heal scars and dark spots which can be caused from pimples.

To benefit from the pimple-fighting powers of green tea, steep an organic green tea bag in hot water, let cool, and apply the wet tea bag directly on your pimple. Let it sit for 10-20 minutes so that the antibacterial properties and antioxidants can work their magic to heal your pimple fast! When opting to use the green tea bag method for healing a pimple, make sure you are using organic green tea in unbleached tea bags so that you are not introducing your facial skin and acne-prone skin to irritating chemicals, bleach, pesticides and the like.

facial mud mask

To deeply extract out pore clogging oils, acne-causing blockages and dirt, a clay-based mud mask is the way to go! You can either select one clay powder or use a blend of different clays. For your next acne-fighting clay mud mask, I highly recommend our Purifying Facial Mask that is hand made with detoxifying bentonite clay, exfoliating French green clay, and fortified with the natural acne-fighting properties of tea tree essential oil and natural antiseptic eucalyptus essential oils.

To use the mud mask method for quickly reducing the appearance of your pimple, mix the clay powder with distilled/filtered water to form a paste, apply directly to your pimple area or entire face and let dry completely before rinsing off. To avoid over-dryness, follow up the treatment with your favorite facial moisturizer.

apple cider vinegar

The secret to successfully clearing your skin with apple cider vinegar (ACV) is to dilute! Pure apple cider vinegar is extremely acidic, so if applied directly to your face, it can throw your skin’s balance out of wack. For the best results, dilute 1 part apple cider vinegar to 2 parts distilled/filtered water, then apply the diluted ACV directly to your pimples and blemishes using a cotton ball or clean wash cloth.

The natural organic acids making up apple cider vinegar help balance the pH levels of your skin (remember, fighting acne is all about balance) and destroy acne-causing bacteria. Apple cider vinegar is rich in acetic acid, citric acid, lactic acid and succinic acid which have all been shown to fight a specific strain of acne-causing bacteria. Apple cider vinegar is also a natural astringent meaning it can be used as a facial toner (when diluted) to even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of large pores.

changing your sheets

There are a couple different ways your sheets and pillow cases might have something to do with your breakout. Either they’re full of dirt and oils from not being cleaned enough, or they’re full of harsh chemical detergents from being cleaned too often or with potentially irritating chemicals. Be sure to select a natural laundry detergent (or hand wash them yourself!) when it comes to cleaning your pillowcases.

IF you’re experiencing breakouts, try changing your pillowcases at least 1-2 times a week!

ice cubes

To reduce redness and inflammation, sometimes all you need is a good old fashioned ice pack. Soothe your irritated pimple and reduce swelling and redness very quickly by applying an ice cube directly the pimple area. The extreme cold from the ice will help immediately reduce the size of your pimple and soothe any pain you may be experiencing from the pimple as well.

Even thought icing the inflamed area may cause initial redness, it will actually reduce redness after letting your facial skin and pimple area return back to their normal temperatures.

steam treatment

On the complete flip side, another method for extracting pimples fast is to use hot steam. This is especially effective if you’re experiencing a white head or black head. Steaming your face with a hot towel helps open pores to draw out the pimple-causing gunk.

There are two basic ways to steam your face. You can use a very hot wet towel, applied directly to your pimple area (press and hold up to pimple area for 10 minutes). Or, you can boil a small amount of water in pot, then once it reaches a boil, pour the hot water in a heat-safe bowl, then place your face over the steam from the bowl (being careful not to touch your face to the boiling water or bowl, just the steam) for 10 minutes. When using the steam over a bowl method to steam your face, you can also add other acne-fighting essential oils like tea tree oil or eucalyptus to the bowl as well.

extracting white & black heads

If this pimple situation involves a black head or white head, for fast pimple-clearing results you may have to simple extract out the white head or black head yourself! Be sure that the pimple is ready to be popped before you do, or you might just lead to further redness and irritation.

First, clean your hands and face with a mild cleanser. Then, loosen the white head or black head and open up your pores using the steaming method — with a hot wet towel or steamy bowl of hot water. Once your pores are opened up and your black head/white head softens up, use a pimple-popping tool to gently extract out the white head/black head. Be sure to get it all out so that it can properly heal!

antibiotic ointment

Acne is a sign of bad bacteria taking over your facial pores. One great way to fight of bacteria is with a basic antibiotic ointment. You probably already have a tube of Bacitracin (generic name) or Neosporin (brand name) sitting in your medicine closet.

If you apply just a tiny dab of antibiotic ointment to your inflamed pimple, the antibiotics will go to work killing off the bad bacteria causing the pimple to arise in the first place.

then don’t touch it!

Most importantly, after you’ve gone through one or a combination of the above pimple-fighting fixes, be sure to keep your hands OFF! Touching your face can further clog pores and introduce bad bacteria to your delicate facial skin.

You have to fight the urge to pick and fuss with your pimples - once you’ve applied your treatment of choice, simple let it be. It will be hard to resist temptation, but you’ll be pleasantly pleased with much faster results!

Cheers to healthy, happy skin!
