DIY Treatment for Flip-Flop Ready Feet

With summer right around the corner it’s time to break out your flip flops, head out to the beach, attend barbecues, and have fun with friends and family in the summer heat. But first, we must make sure our feet are looking good and feeling hydrated because let’s face it, sometimes we neglect taking care of our feet in the summer, leaving them dry, tired and flaky. It is important to remember that healthy feet are happy feet! Here is a 4-step method to get healthy, radiant, smooth, and moisturized summer feet fast!

Soaking is an effective and gentle way to soothe and soften irritated and dry feet. Soaking your feet will help loosen up any of that yucky dead skin you may have. To effectively soak your feet, get a large bowl, fill it with warm water, and add 1 cup of Epsom salts and/or a few drops of your favorite essential oils. Soak for approximately 15 minutes. Epsom salts, which come in a variety of scents, work to alleviate sore and tender feet. Most Epsom salts also work to soften feet. Essential oils like lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus, chamomile, and other oils are not only aromatic, but are also anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Add a few drops to your soak, sit back, and relax during your 15 minute countdown.

Exfoliating is a great way to remove unwanted flaky foot skin. Physical exfoliants include anything from an exfoliating loofah, to DIY sugar scrubs. For step 2, create your own foot scrub paste. Mix half a cup of brown sugar, one table spoon of (Spin)Fuse Coconut Oil, and one tablespoon of warm water into a bowl. Then proceed to massage the paste onto your feet, focusing mainly on calluses and roughly textured areas. After massaging the paste onto each foot for a couple of minutes, rinse your feet with warm water. This method of exfoliation will leave your skin baby soft and glowing, without the uncomfortable dryness.

Cleansing is the perfect step to get rid of any excess oil, or skin that may still be on your feet. Cleansing gives your feet a nice, fresh, clean base so that they are silky smooth and ready to be moisturized. Our Green Light (Spin)Suds Bar and Bonfire (Spin)Suds Bar are gentle yet effective bar soaps that remove impurities without compromising moisture.

Using a creamy moisturizer on your feet will help keep them supple, smooth, and feeling amazing. Moisturizers provide essential ingredients that fortify the skin's moisture barrier and trap moisture into the skin for longer periods of time. Our (Spin)Therapy Moisturizer, which is rich in aloe, avocado oil, vitamins, organic spinach extract, and organic coconut oil, will make your feet silky smooth, and ready for summer. This moisturizer will also prevent further dryness and flaky feet while calming any sun damage with its high aloe content.

Applying these three steps on a weekly basis is a great way to keep your feet looking and feeling great. Our feet go through a lot, so sometimes it nice to give them a little pampering. With smooth and hydrated feet, you will feel confident for flip flop season. So remember, don't forget about your feet this year, and make sure they are in tip top, flip-flop shape!

Stay natural,
Andrew
