Summer is officially here so we've rounded up some of our fav grooming tips to beat the heat! Summer time can be drying, damaging and harsh on your skin and hair, so it's important to give your hair and skin some extra TLC while enjoying your summer adventures.
Tip 1: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
With the blazing summer temperatures, hydrating is the best way to keep both the inside and outside of your body rejuvenated and luminous. Drinking plenty of water helps maintain your skin's natural moisture and delivers essential nutrients to skin cells. It also helps delay the appearance of early signs of ageing like wrinkles and fine lines. Drink up, and soon enough you'll notice a huge difference with your overall complexion.
Hair also thrives in a moisture-rich environment and water is one key way to quench your thirsty hair! Just like our skin, hair also needs lubrication from the inside out. Keeping your hair hydrated by drinking plenty of water will result in faster growing hair so you can say bye-bye to brittle hair and breakage.
Tip 2: Lay off the heat styling!
Excessive usage of heat styling tools can be very damaging and brutal to your hair. Give your hair a break during the summer months from time to time, avoiding curling irons, blow dryers, hot combs and straighteners. Instead, fight frizz using natural carrier oils and essential oils like coconut oil and argon oil. If you would like to create a wavy style without the flat iron, apply our (Spin)Styler Flaxseed Gelly (shop here) to your hair, braid or twist into around 10 sections, and wrap your hair up to set overnight. You'll wake up with hydrated silky waves without any heat damage.
Tip 3: Make Coconut Milk and Coconut Oil your best friend :)
Rich in vitamins and minerals, coconut milk is your personal passport to hydrated skin, hair and scalp. It is light, non-greasy, and highly absorbent to seal in moisture, providing optimal conditioning and shine while loosening and detangling. Coconut oil will help tame frizz, penetrate the hair strands and hydrate your skin!
Tip 4: Moisturize till you can't moisturize no more!
Moisturizer repairs, protects, circulates and primes your skin. The heat and sun dries out your skin, so make sure you're moisturizing at least 2 times daily. We suggest our (Spin)Therapy Moisturizer (shop here) for hair and skin rich in natural aloe vera juice. Rich in fatty acids, minerals and vitamins, aloe vera is an excellent emollient moisturizer that conditions your hair and skin by sealing in moisture and detangling. Aloe vera gel is the go-to natural remedy for sun-burnt and sun-damaged skin- it reduces stinging and redness.
Tip 5: Exfoliate
Exfoliating your body at least once a week will help remove excess dead skin cells and free your skin from its dead outer layer to help effectively absorb your moisturizing products. Exfoliating also primes your skin - which means you will get the most out of your summer essentials. It sweeps away the dirt, oil, and other debris from your pores that will help your skin care products better penetrate your skin, making it much more effective. Before hopping in the shower, we suggest dry brushing with our mini exfoliating loofahs (shop here)!
Remember taking good care of your hair and skin should be a huge part of your daily regime, especially throughout the summer! Leave any comments or questions, team Espinache would love to answer them for you!
Stay hydrated :)
